DIY Wood painting drying rack

As my painting panels build up I need something to hold everything while save some space. But when I search online I was shocked that all decent painting/drying rack cost like $150+, some of them even up to $500. So I start to think about DIY project. I only had a rough idea when I purchased materials at Lowe’s. My rough plan was changed along the process to make sure it would work. I don’t need this to be fancy looking, I just need it to work as I expected and gives me some experience so that next time I know where to start.

All materials cost under $30, if you chose the most economy wood in the store it would cost even less. But I am picky about wood so I put some extra to get nice board. It took me around 4 hours to finish. I didn’t do any stain or varnish or something like that because someone at my household is allergic to those chemicals.
And here it is! You can see that I am too lazy to remove all the price stickers. Haha~

All my painting panels are small size, up to 12 inch. For medium to large size I would use standing drying rack for stretched canvas. If you are interested in this project, please leave me comment. I will refine my plan and process to give you a better idea.

Thank you all~

My paintings are an outlet to express the imagination I have inside my head that I can not put into words. After trying many mediums, I always find myself coming back to paint and brushes. In my current artistic practice, I use oil paint and mainly create portraits of mythical creatures and animals transfixed in the shifting colours of seascapes and landscapes. There is a natural spirit and magic to these creatures and their energy draws me in. Choosing to paint these creatures as real living wildlife rather than abstractions, I use bold and vivid colours to express the imaginary intertwined with reality, finding magic between the seams. Using a saturated colour palette, I create bold and striking imagery, contrasted between foreground and background, subject and landscape, and light and darkness. Weaving their bodies and the surface of the landscape into each other through organic forms and flowing brush strokes, I find beauty, strength and innocence in these creatures that reflect my inner world.

    1. It is still there but mostly vacant now because I don’t paint a lot small size panels like before. It is still sturdy and holds some random things. 😂
