Last November I did a large oil painting for my husband’s new office. It was inspired by a piece of rock slice. It was the first painting I did in 24 inch by 30 inch. I’m planning on a 24 inch by 36 inch one for my living room. My goal is gradually trying out large size canvas :D.

I really like the color combination when I first saw the reference photo. And it turned out that I enjoyed the process of mixing these colors on my palette. I’ve also noticed during this oil painting study that the darker, thicker outline is helpful. But it won’t be good in pure black. The outline needs to be darker value but not pitch black.

Maybe it is good for Valentine’s Day too ^_^
