Finally, 2020 is done.
Although this year is tough, I am glad that I was able to try new painting methods/subjects. Palette knife painting was one of them. The first piece I tried was “Pathway to lighthouse”.
I put the base color layer by palette knife only. And then I went over another layer with brushes for more details. The base layer by palette knife gave a lot texture, especially on the rocks.
The second piece I tried was “Hot blue coal”. Again, the base color layer was done by palette knife only.
Texture was more visible on this piece even after I put on another layer for more details and color correction.
I would like to use palette knife for covering large area and building up texture on canvas. But is also consumed more paint than brushes. I guessed probably at least 3 times more paint than I usually did. Besides, my arm felt tired quickly when I used palette knife, ha~.
Next I want to try using palette knife on a medium texture canvas. I always purchased ultra smooth canvas. However I am thinking that a medium texture canvas plus palette knife would be good for landscape painting.
Yes, I am heading into landscape painting…┗( ▔, ▔ )┛
At last, best wishes to all in 2021~ ❤
Thank you.
