I find my old art works in my computer

I’ve changed several laptops/computers along these years. Every time I change a new one I left some files in the previous one. Of course I back up all the files in a separate drive but I don’t need to fill the new computer with bunch of older documents that I didn’t even look at.

Couple of days ago, I had a little spare time at night and I didn’t want to do anything. So I just look through all my folders in my computer and found out some of my older fan arts in there. By older I mean all works before 2017. I used to do digital drawings for my fan arts mostly. My first tablet was Wacom Bamboo small, and then Intuos 4M. All the older works remind me my past. Although I’d rather not to share them here but I cannot deny where I had been. Please don’t be so serious about my older works, they are more like a memory now. O(∩_∩)O

The characters are from a Japanese manga which was popular when I grew up, aka 80’s and 90’s. You may know the name <Saint Seiya>, about zodiac worriers and goddess Athena. I like Milo the Scorpion worrier since I am Scorpion. I guess it was around 2000 that people started to match two or more characters in one or more manga books together as couple, especially same sex couple. In the beginning it was really a taboo topic to talk about. But when more and more people accepted and preferred this way it became a culture in manga/animation world. I still remember in early times when teenagers or young adults fought fiercely online for their favorite character couple just in order to make them “official”. Now when I look back I can’t stop laughing at myself because I used to do that. When I become more mature, I learn how to take it easy and not to argue. They can like whatever they like and I can do mine. No need to prove that some’s CP is better than others. With highly developed internet today, you can always find your gang and hang out with them.

So, let me show you some of my older works, well, only the proper ones.

The last one is a poster that I drew for my fan book years ago. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the high resolution picture. Back in time I even didn’t know I should save as PNG rather than JPG. Might be I will find them one day when I dig into my backup drive.

I can’t believe all those years have been past…..\( ̄︶ ̄)/

OMG how old am I….

My paintings are an outlet to express the imagination I have inside my head that I can not put into words. After trying many mediums, I always find myself coming back to paint and brushes. In my current artistic practice, I use oil paint and mainly create portraits of mythical creatures and animals transfixed in the shifting colours of seascapes and landscapes. There is a natural spirit and magic to these creatures and their energy draws me in. Choosing to paint these creatures as real living wildlife rather than abstractions, I use bold and vivid colours to express the imaginary intertwined with reality, finding magic between the seams. Using a saturated colour palette, I create bold and striking imagery, contrasted between foreground and background, subject and landscape, and light and darkness. Weaving their bodies and the surface of the landscape into each other through organic forms and flowing brush strokes, I find beauty, strength and innocence in these creatures that reflect my inner world.
