I love to make gingerbread man cookie for my family. I thought about painting it. But after looking through tons of gingerbread man paintings online, I try to avoid realistic style. In my mind, the gingerbread man has a naughty character. Just like in the story “Gingerbread man”, he says “Run, run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me. I am the gingerbread man.” I am looking for a way to express the naught, childish and happy feeling of a gingerbread man. One day, the feeling comes to me. I draw a digital sketch on tablet and refine it on a cradled wood panel.
I also paint a “Gingerbread lady” to make them a couple. Otherwise it seems unfair for gingerbread man to be alone during holiday season. 😀
