This is my abstract oil painting series “Lion dance”, including red, yellow, white and black.

Lion dance has long history that can be traced back around A.D. 500, more than 1500 years ago. It has major influence on culture of east Asian. Nowadays, you can find different types of lion dance in China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and many more countries.

In the beginning I am not sure how many pieces should be in this series. But after studying loads of photos I choose four color theme, white, black, red and yellow as they are the most popular colors for lion dance costume.
