Description
Onmyoji was one of the official positions belonging to the Bureau of Onmyō [ja] of the Ministry of the Center under the ritsuryō system in ancient Japan, and was assigned as a technical officer in charge of divination and geomorphology based on the theory of the yin-and-yang five phases. In the middle ages and early modern period, the term was used to refer to those who performed Prayers and divination in the private sector, and some of them were regarded as a kind of clergy.
This time I want to paint a cat as Onmyoji because it would be fun to say “On-Meow-Ji”. Also, cat always fights evil spirits in all kinds of mythology stories. It would be perfect for a cat to be a guardian of shrine, to protect the world from darkness. By the way, the sigil on lantern is Seimei pentagram used by Abe no Seimei.
This piece was painted on Fredrix Blue label ultra smooth stretch canvas in traditional profile 3/4”. It has been varnished and carefully packaged with two same size cardboards, buffering paper, bubble wrapping paper and 4 corner protectors.
Although I have tried my best to match the color of digital profile and the actual product, the color might still vary depending on different monitor settings. Please be aware of this fact.
Note, the painting ships unframed.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
