In the beginning
Last summer break, I got a crochet kit for my kids. It was a very simple one, and the goal was for them to spend some time doing crafts. However, the kids didn’t understand the crochet coding system, and neither did I. So the crochet pattern became a puzzle game for me—and I like puzzle games. I spent an entire afternoon sitting at my desk, playing with yarn and a hook, watching tutorials, and examining pattern symbols. Surprisingly, I figured it out. As a complete beginner with zero experience, I made a simple red fox amigurumi for my kid. They still don’t understand how the pattern works, but at this point, I have the cheat sheet.
Then it became unstoppable. I tried multiple crochet kits, such as animals and cacti. I also found some free patterns online and made scarves, hats, blankets and bags. I expanded my collection with different sizes of hooks and crocheted two baskets to organize my yarn. Then, one more category came to me: crochet flowers. Not the simple flower pots included in kits, but actual flowers that can be used in bouquets.
I spent some time trying to find the right combination of yarn and hooks. Then I started making the first set, which is the red roses. This one is for Valentine’s Day. Next, I made small flowers in a mug; this set is for my late mom. Out of curiosity about other flowers, I tried making two more bouquets. One, wrapped in paper, is for my aunt, and the other, in a red vase, is for my family.

The two major references I use
This website contains many free crochet patterns. Flowers are beautiful. You can find some unique patterns that are not available in the books listed below.
2. Crochet A Flower Bouquet: 35 crochet patterns for handmade flowers and foliage
This book is a must-have, in my opinion. It contains all the information you need to create a crochet flower bouquet, including materials, the process, and the final result. With 35 different flowers and foliage, it provides more than enough variety to make any type of bouquet, especially when considering color variations.
Summary
One idea for a crochet flower bouquet—I love it!
More than making baskets or blankets, I enjoy making toys as well. However, I can’t keep too many stuffed toys in the house, so I often create them as gifts for kids’ birthday parties. I enjoy the process and love the results of flower bouquets. For now, during the frozen white winter, I can admire the warm, vibrant flowers on my table.
God bless MN.
