Initial thoughts
The idea comes from Bug hotel. Although I am not a fan of bugs, I think this idea is cute and brilliant. So I made a house for bees. The house has no perfect straight-line. It looks crooked, unregulated. It is made of clay and wood pieces. The bee house only has windows, no doors. Some walls are solid, some walls are semitransparent with hexagon structure.
Every night, the building lights up. All bees come back home under the starlight. They live safe and sound in there as a big family. And of course the master bedroom is for the queen.
Digital sketch
In digital sketch I painted the window frame orange red. But in actual painting I use the dark gold oil paint. Also, I paint over the stairs. Why would bees need stairs? They can fly. 🤣
Summary
I enjoyed this piece while painting because I didn’t have to worry about straight lines. One thing I don’t prefer for painting buildings is straight lines. Well, one of my aunts is an architect and I admire her to draw straight lines every day.
No, I prefer not to do that. 🤣
At this point I think this blue/orange yellow color palette is my favorite one. I love many many color combinations but somehow I always go back to the blue and orange yellow one. ❤
