Holiday spirit
What would you think of combination of cardinal red bird, snowy pine needles, gingerbread man and jingle bell? Sounds holiday? Well, this is my version of holiday painting. To be honest the gingerbread man in my mind is much wilder. It wears metal armor and holds a sword. It rides the red cardinal bird like a war horse. But, when I actually paint it I discard the armor and sword. I hope to have a peaceful holiday. 😀
Details
I first paint the pine needles with palette knife. Don’t quite like it so I go over with liner paint brush. I guess I am more comfortable with a brush. The cardinal bird needs more layers since the red paint has less coverage. If I want to cover some area I have to watch a salmon pink bird for couple of days until I can put saturated red on top of the salmon pink layer. Yellow color paint is the same, less coverage. As to the gingerbread man, they are flat. The realistic gingerbread man is flat, not round because it is a cookie after all. 😀 I do have some 3D gingerbread dolls at home, but I prefer the flat version in this case. Just like the story “Gingerbread man”.
Summary
I read some posts saying this winter is going to be abnormal in terms of temperature and precipitation. I am not sure what I am expecting in Minnesota, more cold and more snow? 🤣
Well, we will see.
I hope this painting will bring you some holiday mood~ ❤
