Initial thought
I used to play a story interaction game, and one of their games featured characters who were giant gods. One day, I found a reference photo online showing several stone swords. This inspired the idea: what if these swords were left behind by ancient giant gods? The concept evolved into an ice swords Stonehenge painting, blending mythical elements with iconic settings. However, the stone texture seemed a bit plain and lacked a mythical feel. So, I transformed them into ice or crystal—transparent, eternal artifacts left standing by the gods.
However, I still feel the image is incomplete. I added more elements related to shrines, such as Stonehenge and the colorful flags of the Tibetan tribe. The gods left only those ice swords, and then people came to build Stonehenge and hang the tribal flags to worship the gods.
In the end, I added some birds. Including living creatures made it feel more realistic.
Digital concept
In Tibetan tradition, the colorful flags contain five colors: red, yellow, white, blue, and green. You may refer to my previous Tibetan prayer wheel post for more details. The ice texture is better than I expected. Not all ice is 100% transparent or clear like modern glass. A slight diffusion of light and some blurriness make the ice stand out during sunset.
Summary
This type of painting allows me to relax. I don’t need to worry about how realistic it looks; I only need to focus on how it makes me feel.
I hope you enjoy this one~
