Background
Ever since I first saw the kitchen scene with Quicksilver, I have enjoyed the song “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce. I wanted to create a painting to represent the concept of “time in a bottle. I tried placing a pocket watch inside a bottle, but it looked awkward. Then I wondered, what does time really mean? I immediately thought about quantum physics. From there, my mind jumped to chaos theory, and then to the butterfly effect.
And there it is—the butterfly. It looks much better than a pocket watch in a glass bottle.
However, a butterfly alone cannot represent the concept of time. Therefore, I added twelve Roman numerals, as commonly seen on clocks. These numerals can be viewed as projections of the butterfly itself. The twelve numerals always float around the butterfly, behaving like its shadow.
Digital concept
In the digital concept, I forgot the numbers 11 and 12. I only included 1 to 10. 😂 Clearly, I forgot how a clock works, so I had to rearrange the numbers in the final painting.
Here is AI generated short video based on my original image. This is fun~
Summary
I really enjoy the color theme of this painting. I think the blue, orange, and yellow color combination calms me down every time. I guess if I give it enough time, I can create a booklet featuring all the paintings in this color theme. ♥
